Pre-existing conditions
Coverage for pre-existing conditions vary from carrier to carrier, and depends on the type of condition as well as the type of coverage you are seeking. You can be declined for major medical conditions such as Diabetes if you are applying for an individual policy. If you have a more minor medical condition, such as taking Synthroid to treat Hypothyroidism, you may get accepted with no problems. The carrier may accept you, but waive or exclude coverage for any treatment related to some medical condition (bad back). We can help guide you to the carriers that are the most likely to accept your medical condition. If you are applying for group coverage, there are no pre-existing clauses if you are purchasing an HMO, but on PPOs, the pre-existing condition may not be covered for a period of six months to a year if you have not had continuous medical coverage. If you are applying for individual coverage but are concerned about being declined or waived for a medical condition, give us a call and we will try to help you get on a group policy. If you get declined for an individual policy due to medical conditions, and do not qualify for a group policy, Colorado has provided last resort medical coverage in its www.CoverColorado.org plan.
